‘Shirley’ Impact Campaign Kicks Off

March 18, 2024 – SHIRLEY had a monumental week when filmmakers and partners visited both our nation’s capital and Brooklyn, New York. Beginning in Washington, D.C., Regina King, joined by Rep. Barbara Lee and writer and director John Ridley, visited the Library of Congress where they got a close up look at Shirley Chisholm’s historical archives, and then concluded with a screening of the film at the National Museum of African American History & Culture.

Next, SHIRLEY went back to where it all began in Brooklyn, New York, for a panel and screening at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The panel was introduced by Dr. Zinga Fraiser, director of The Shirley Chisholm Project, and features John Ridley as well as actors from the film including Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christina Jackson, Dorian Missick, and Reina King.
