‘Zero Days’ Advances In Oscar Race For Best Documentary Feature

LOS ANGELES (December 6, 2016) – Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney’s cyberwarfare documentary Zero Days is among the 15 feature documentaries chosen by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 2016 Oscar® contention.

The film tells the story of Stuxnet, self-replicating computer malware that the U.S. and Israel unleashed to destroy a key part of an Iranian nuclear facility, and which ultimately spread beyond its intended target. It’s the most comprehensive accounting to date of how a clandestine mission hatched by two allies with clashing agendas opened forever the Pandora’s Box of cyberwarfare.

Produced by Gibney’s Jigsaw Prods. and Global Produce’s Marc Shmuger, and Sarah Dowland, Zero Days made its world premiere in competition at the 2016 Berlin Film Festival.

The final five nominees will be announced on January 24. The Oscars® ceremony takes place on February 26. View the complete shortlist here.
