‘The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble’ Received Grammy Award Nomination For Best Music Film

LOS ANGELES (December 6, 2016) – The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble received a Grammy nomination for Best Music Film. “Sing Me Home,” the companion album to Morgan Neville’s documentary is nominated for Best World Music Album.

Bridge of Spies composer Thomas Newman received two Grammy nominations: Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, and Best Instrumental Composition for “Bridge of Spies (End Title).”

The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, the latest film from director Morgan Neville and producer Caitrin Rogers, creators of the Oscar®-winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom and the critically acclaimed Best of Enemies, follows performers drawn from the ensemble’s more than 50 instrumentalists, vocalists, composers, arrangers, visual artists, and storytellers as they gather in locations across the world, exploring the ways that art can both preserve traditions and shape cultural evolution.

Steven Speilberg’s Bridge of Spies won several awards, including an Academy Award (Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role – Mark Rylance), and the AFI award for Movie of the Year.
