TakePart and Samsung Launch ‘Thank You Notes’ Holiday Campaign
(December 10, 2014) – This holiday season, TakePart.com, a digital magazine and social action platform for the conscious consumer, and Samsung Galaxy® are teaming up with five renowned actors and artists to launch “Thank You Notes,” a new social media campaign that gives participants an easy way to express their gratitude while simultaneously supporting important causes.
For every eligible “Thank You Note” that is created and shared via the campaign experience on TakePart.com, Samsung and TakePart.com together will donate $5 to one of five nonprofit organizations. Each of these organizations is championed by a celebrity ambassador – Christina Applegate, Freida Pinto, Kristin Davis, Malin Akerman, and Ne-Yo – who each filmed heartfelt videos encouraging participants to select their organization for the donation. “Don’t forget to write a Thank You Note this holiday season to that person who has made a difference in your life,” Christina Applegate notes in her TakePart video. “It’s a really nice thing to hear that you’ve made a difference in someone’s life. Just being grateful opens up a space for more good stuff to happen in your life.”
Kristin Davis added in her own video, “The fact that you can write a Thank You Note to someone in your life and express gratitude to them, while also giving to a wonderful charity, is a great thing.”
Organizations that will benefit from the “Thank You Notes” campaign include:
• Right Action for Women (Christina Applegate) was established in 2008 by Applegate, following her own personal journey through breast cancer. Applegate created RAW to encourage young women to understand what it means to be at an increased risk for breast cancer, and to provide assistance to access advanced breast cancer screenings.
• Plan International USA (Freida Pinto) works side by side with communities to end the cycle of poverty for children and their families. Their solutions are designed up-front to be owned by communities for generations to come, ranging from clean water and health care programs to education projects and child protection initiatives.
• The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (Kristin Davis) is a conservation nonprofit that has worked to protect all wildlife and habitats in Kenya for over 35 years. Best known for its pioneering work to rescue and reintegrate orphan infant elephants back into the wild, its teams work to safeguard and protect Kenya’s diverse wildlife from human-wildlife conflict, poaching and habitat destruction.
• Opportunity International (Malin Akerman) is a global nonprofit organization that helps people in developing nations work their way out of poverty, strengthen their families and improve their communities. The organization currently provides loans, savings programs, insurance and other financial services and training to more than 5 million clients in 22 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.
• The Compound Foundation (Ne-Yo) is a national organization founded in 2007 by Shaffer “Ne-Yo” Smith and his business partner Reynell Hay to enhance the well-being of youth growing up in foster care and group homes. The foundation’s goal is to support bright futures for young people by helping them to forge healthy relationships, pursue education and training, learn entrepreneurship basics and realize their dreams.
“What better way to celebrate the giving season than by sharing a personal note with someone who you are thankful for that also has the added impact of supporting worthy causes,” added Karina Kogan, EVP of Digital for TakePart.com. “We’re currently working on our own Thank You Notes to send to Christina, Freida, Kristin, Malin, and Ne-Yo.”
