Susan Sarandon Joining Dwayne Johnson for ‘Snitch’
The actress recently wrapped the Adam Sandler comedy, “I Hate You Dad.” September 27, 2011 by Borys Kit, Hollywood Reporter Susan Sarandon is in negotiations to join Dwayne Johnson in Snitch, the action thriller which Ric Roman Waugh is writing and directing for Exclusive Media, Participant Media and Imagenation Abu Dhabi. The script centers on a suburban father who is hit hard when his teenage son is sentenced to 30 years under mandatory minimum drug laws. In order to reduce his son’s sentence, the father goes undercover to serve up a senior drug dealer. The story is based on a Frontline documentary. In a part that was reconfigured from male to female, Sarandon will play an ambitious U.S. attorney who believes that a drug bust can help her political career. Waugh rewrote the script by Justin Haythe. The project has been long in development and at one point was set up at New Line with Carl Franklin directing one iteration. Nigel Sinclair, Guy East and Alex Brunner are producing. David Fanning, Dany Garcia and Johnson are also producing. Summit will release Snitch in the U.S. ICM-repped Sarandon, who last appeared in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, is coming off shooting the Adam Sandler comedy I Hate You Dad, Lionsgate’s Gently Down the Stream with Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton, and Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep.
