More Awards and Nominations for The Help

Houston Film Critics Society has nominated the film in the categories of Best Picture, Best Actress (Viola Davis), Best Supporting Actress (Jessica Chastain & Octavia Spencer) and Best Original Song (“The Living Proof”); the winners in each category will be announced this Tuesday, 12/13. Houston Film Critics Society included the film as one of the top 10 films of 2011. Los Angeles Film Critics Association named Jessica Chastain Best Supporting Actress (for her work in The Help and her other 2011 films). New York Film Critics Online named Jessica Chastain Breakthrough Performer (for her work in The Help and her other 2011 films). American Film Institute included the film as one of the top 10 films of 2011. Shawn Edwards of FOX TV included the film at #1 on his list of the top 10 films of 2011. African-American Film Critics Association announced their 2011 award winners and top 10 list: Viola Davis was named Best Actress and Octavia Spencer Best Supporting Actress. The Help was listed as #10 on their ten best list. The awards ceremony will be held on January 8 at Helms Bakery in Culver City.
