How you survive and even make beautiful art from unthinkable tragedy is the thrust of Lloyd Kramer’s incredibly moving documentary Midsummer in Newtown. It deals with the aftermath of the horrendous Dec. 14, 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary High School, in Newtown, CT, which unfathomably left 20 children and six teachers and staff members lying dead on bloodstained floors of what had once been a calm place of learning in an almost ridiculously idyllic town.
