Little Mosque Breaks New Ground in the U.S. on Participant Media’s New Cable Network, Pivot

TORONTO (April 3, 2013) — Westwind Pictures’ hit series Little Mosque will make its U.S. TV premiere on Pivot, the new cable network from Participant Media(Lincoln, The Help, An Inconvenient Truth). Pivot has acquired all six seasons (91 episodes) of the Canadian show which makes its debut as part of the innovative and robust programming for the network in August 2013.

Pivot president Evan Shapiro said, “Little Mosque is a perfect match for Pivot. In the tradition of great TV comedy, it uses a unique brand of humor to spark important conversations, and its characters challenge certain American preconceptions about faith and tolerance. We’re proud to be the first network to bring the show to TV in the U.S.” Pivot will allow subscribers to stream the network on a linear basis and on demand, to many devices in home and out of home, via its interactive, downloadable PivotApp. The network will also offer a first-of its kind broadband-only subscription.

“We are thrilled that Pivot, a channel dedicated to entertainment that inspires positive change, will be airing Little Mosque,” says WestWind Pictures CEO and executive producer Mary Darling. “Most people hunger to see more understanding between cultures and everyone loves to laugh.”

The critically-acclaimed series which completed its six season/91 episode run on CBC in 2011, continues to garner international attention around the world. The series, now seen in over 90 countries including Turkey, Israel, France, Spain and Italy, has been dubbed or translated into 25 languages.

WestWind Pictures will be on location in the Canadian Pavilion at MIPTV April 8-11.
