Jennifer Garnick, Appointed VP, Public Relations For Participant Media’s Pivot and TakePart
NEW YORK (May 30, 2013) —Jennifer Garnick has been appointed Vice President, Public Relations, for Pivot, Participant Media’s new cable network targeting millennials, and Participant’s digital arm, TakePart. Garnick, who is based in Los Angeles, will be responsible for the overall communications strategy for Pivot, launching in over 40 million homes this August. In addition, she will have direct oversight of all program publicity, talent relations, events and awards campaigns for Pivot, as well as corporate and consumer initiatives for TakePart and TakePart Live. The announcement was made today by Kent Rees, Pivot EVP, Marketing, Scheduling & Operations, to whom Garnick will report.
“Jennifer brings a wealth of well-rounded experience to Pivot,” said Rees. “Her passion and enthusiasm for Participant Media and its mission and her strong background in digital and TV will be instrumental as we set our sights on connecting with this new generation of audiences for Pivot and TakePart. Jennifer also has a keen understanding of the changing media landscape and will be able to guide and advise our senior management team as we build towards our August launch.”
Garnick joins Pivot and TakePartfrom the Independent Film & Television Alliance, where as Vice President, Communications, she spearheaded all publicity initiatives for the organization and its tentpole event, the American Film Market, the largest film market in the world. In addition, Garnick was instrumental in building brand awareness for IFTA and its 150 member companies, and was largely responsible for producing the annual five-day AFM Conference Series. Prior to IFTA, she served as Vice President of Publicity and Talent Relations at SpinMedia (formerly BUZZMEDIA), and was a driving force behind the company’s impressive growth from single website into the fastest-growing and largest independent entertainment publisher on the Web, with more than 40 brands. Garnick began her career at The Lippin Group where she eventually was named Vice President and specialized in corporate and consumer campaigns for television, film, music, digital media and award shows for top entertainment companies. She is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston.
