Historic Three Oscar® Nominations for ‘Flee’

We are delighted that Flee has been nominated for Best International Feature, Best Documentary Feature, and Best Animated Feature – the first time any film has been nominated in all three categories!

Congratulations to our partners at NEON, Jonas Poher Rasmussen and the filmmaking team for these honors. The nominations are a testament to the universal power of a deeply personal story and the care taken in telling it.

Flee tells the story of “Amin Nawabi” as he grapples with a painful secret he has kept hidden for 20 years, one that threatens to derail the life he has built for himself and his soon to be husband. To protect his identity, Flee is recounted mostly through animation to director Jonas Poher Rasmussen, he tells for the first time the story of his extraordinary journey as a child refugee from Afghanistan.
