‘A Place at the Table:’ New documentary explores hunger in America
More than 50 million people in the United States are “food insecure,” meaning they don’t know where their next meal will come from. Of those, 16.7 million are children. The makers of a new documentary, “A Place at the Table,” hope that by raising awareness of the prevalence of hunger in America, they can make a dent in those numbers.
I recently sat down with directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush, and executive producer Tom Colicchio, to talk about hunger in the United States, how it affects children, and what people can do to help. Here are edited excerpts from that conversation.
