Four Participant Media Films At The 2016 Toronto International Film Festival
LOS ANGELES (JULY 26, 2016) – Participant Media is part of four films that will screen at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival: Peter Berg’s Deepwater Horizon, J.A. Bayona’s A Monster Calls, Mick Jackson’s Denial, and Pablo Larrain’s biopic Neruda.
Deepwater Horizon, Denial, and A Monster Calls will have their world premieres at the festival. Neruda made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
This is the twelfth year at TIFF for Participant, a company dedicated to entertainment that inspires and compels social impact.
Deepwater Horizon (Lionsgate), stars Mark Wahlberg, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Kurt Russell, and Kate Hudson, and is inspired by the true story about one of the world’s largest man-made disasters on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The gripping drama honors the brave men and women whose heroism changed lives forever.
A Monster Calls (Focus Features) starring Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver and Liam Neeson, is based off the award winning children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness.
Denial (Bleecker Street, BBC Films), starring Rachel Weisz, Tom Wilkinson, and Timothy Spall, based on the acclaimed book by Deborah Lipstadt who was sued for libel by the world’s preeminent Holocaust denier, in a case that puts the history of the Holocaust on trial.
Neruda follows the Nobel Prize-winning poet’s struggle to become both a symbol for liberty and a literary legend. The film stars Chile’s Luis Gnecco, in the title role, Garcia Bernal as police inspector Peluchonneau, charged with hunting down the dissident Nobel prize-winner, and Mercedes Moranas Neruda’s wife, Delia del Carril.
The festival runs from September 8 to 18.
