Alex Gibney’s Documentary ‘Zero Days’ Wins Peabody Award

LOS ANGELES (April 18, 2017) – Zero Days has won a Peabody Award. Alex Gibney’s cyberwarfare documentary is among the 12 winners in the Documentary category for programs released in 2016.

Written and directed by Gibney (Academy Award© winning Taxi to the Dark Side, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief), Zero Days made its world premiere at the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival in Competition.

The film tells the story of Stuxnet, self-replicating computer malware that the U.S. and Israel unleashed to destroy a key part of an Iranian nuclear facility, and which ultimately spread beyond its intended target. It’s the most comprehensive accounting to date of how a clandestine mission hatched by two allies with clashing agendas opened forever the Pandora’s Box of cyberwarfare.

The Peabody Awards recognize excellence in a wide range of electronic media and honors the year’s best stories in television, radio, podcasts and digital narratives. The honorees will be awarded at the gala ceremony in New York City on May 20, to air on both PBS and FUSION networks on June 2.
