With a “from the seats to the streets” mentality, Participant is shaping perspectives and encouraging change through powerful narrative storytelling. The film production company’s campaigns for All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, Descendant, and The First Wave highlighted the devastating effects of the opioid epidemic, community organizations and leaders in Alabama’s Africatown, and COVID-19 frontline workers, respectively. Impact campaigns tied to each film have not only raised awareness about these topics but also resulted in direct action. Participant raised more than $100,000 to support harm-reduction efforts related to opioid addiction and organized a meeting between the White House and Africatown community leaders to discuss environmental justice.
