LOS ANGELES (May 5, 2014) – Participant Media, the leading provider of entertainment that inspires, has named Laura Kim Senior Vice President, Film Marketing. The announcement was made today by Diane Weyermann, Executive Vice President, Documentary Films, and Jonathan King, Executive Vice President, Narrative Films, to whom she will jointly report.

In her new role at Participant, Kim will oversee marketing strategy, partnerships, and campaign development for Participant’s films and acquisitions, and serve as the key marketing executive for all distributors, promotional partners, filmmakers, talent and studios.

“Laura is respected throughout the film world for her expertise, intelligence and creativity managing campaigns for a wide range of films. We are thrilled to have her on board as Participant expands into new markets, and expands our slate of films,” said King.

“I have known Laura for many years and have always been immensely impressed by her skills and expertise in shepherding a variety of films through the festival, theatrical, and awards circuits, as well as her capacity to ultimately connect them to audiences. Laura is an incredible asset to Participant and I am thrilled to be working with her,” Weyermann added.

Prior to joining Participant, Kim was principal and founder at Inside Job, a motion picture marketing, public relations and distribution consulting firm, whose clients and campaigns included Academy Award®-nominated films ALBERT NOBBS, MARGIN CALL, RESTREPO, WINTER’S BONE and the Academy Award®-winner for Best Documentary UNDEFEATED, as well as The Sundance Institute. Previously, Kim served as Executive Vice President of Marketing for Warner Independent Pictures, where she was responsible for the marketing of films including BEFORE SUNSET, MARCH OF THE PENGUINS, PARADISE NOW, and Participant’s GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK.

Kim is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and serves on the Board of Directors for Film Independent.
